I just received the absolute best compliment from my husband. He thanked me for our beautiful home - he appreciates the time I take to decorate and organize, cook and clean. Now, don't go thinking that my house is perfect - it's not. Toys are always out, spots are on the mirrors...we live here, people! But I like to decorate and to hear that he's okay w/ me buying things for the house...yippee!
here's a little background as to why...
While I was celebrating birthdays at my parents, Matt was in Dallas for his annual fantasy football draft. I may complain about fantasy football, but deep down I'm a supporter. It's a great way for guys to connect. Women have all kinds of things to talk about. We easily make friends, find things in common and come up with things to do together. Men on the other hand don't. They need something to get them together - hunting, fishing, golf, etc. For Matt, it's football. He shares a team with his brother. It's a way that they stay in touch, get together and have something in common to talk about. His dad even gets in to the game.
That was a major aside...anyway, last weekend was his draft. I went to my parent's and he went to his brother's. His brother is a bachelor. He's a smart guy - a lawyer, drives a nice car, but his condo, well his poor condo. It has the basic necessities for a single guy and that's about it...well that and a kickin' surround sound system. Matt learned a valuable lesson while sleeping on his brother's couch: he's spoiled at home! That night he had a scratchy couch, no pillow and no blanket. All the luxuries of his home were stripped from him and he was sad and cold.
Now I know two things:
1. Matt appreciates me and our home.
2. I know what to get his brother for Christmas.
